How To Blow Out An Easter Egg |
|
|
|
You don't have to get the inside of your
eggs out before you decorate them, but if you don't you can't really
keep them all that long. One option is to hard boil your Easter Eggs
before you decorate them and that's okay if you plan to eat them at
Easter, if you were hoping to enjoy them a little longer you will have
to empty them out so that the yolk and egg white doesn't go off.
Making your own Easter eggs is a fun way to celebrate Easter. You can
decorate your eggs as simple or fancy as you want! Create a tradition
by decorating eggs every year. Before you can decorate the eggs, you
need to get the inside of the egg out, without breaking the shell! It's
really quite simple to do. How? You blow the egg out.
To blow
out your own Easter Eggs you can actually buy a proper egg blower, but
that takes some of the skill and excitement out of the whole process,
right? So we're going to be doing it that hard way. First of all you
are going to need some eggs, you could use duck or goose eggs if you
want, but for blowing, you are probably better off using your standard
chicken egg. Try and get the biggest eggs you can so they are more
visually appealing. Of course, we'll be using free range eggs, because
we don't want any chickens harmed as a result of our celebration.
Easter
is after all a religious time and it seems a little contradictory to
support the cruel and unhappy lives that caged hens suffer for the sake
of some pretty trinkets to adorn what after all is a celebration of
life.
Once
you have your free range eggs from happy chickens,
make sure you wash them properly before you begin. They might be happy
chickens, but you are going to be putting your lips on these eggs, so
you want to make sure they are free of anychook poo that might have
found its way onto the outside of the egg. Better safe than sorry.
Next
you will need a bowl to collect the inside of the eggs and a needle to
poke a whole in the shell. Try to find a fair sized needle to make this
easier.
once you have all that: your well washed happy eggs, a
bowl and a needle you are ready to begin. Take your needle and poke a
small hole in the narrow end of the egg. Then poke a slightly bigger
whole in the other end. Once you've pushed the needle carefully into
the egg get it right in there and swirl it around at an angle to make
sure that you break up membrane around the yolk or you will never blow
that out through your little whole.
Next hold the egg over the
bowl, blow through the small hole so that the inside comes out through
the bigger whole in the bottom. Easy!. Well it might take you a couple
of eggs to get the hang of it, but it's not rocket science, is it?
Once
you have the inside out, you should wash out the egg to make sure
there's nothing left inside to get smelly later on once your made your
beautiful colored eggs. The eggs will be fairly strong, but sensitive
close to the wholes, so take a little care running them under the tap.
Of course if you are getting your kids to decorate the eggs, hard
boiling them might be a good idea rather than blowing them out. Hard
boiled eggs are pretty strong and there's less chance they will get
broken before they are finished. You can also dye the egs as you boil
them to save time and give you a nice colorful head start to the
decorations.
The insides, well so long as you've been careful,
there's no reason you can't use them to create your self a wonderful
omelet, maybe even a quiche.
All that's left to do is decorate your eggs. There are so many ways you
can do that. Just remember it's all about good fun and a celebration of
life.
